As far as how to stop getting notifications from this thread you need to go to your profile - Edit Profile - Notifications Preferences - Mark / Unmark - Save Preferences.
You will notice you have two options on how to be notified - via email and/or pop-up. You probably have checked "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in". If you just uncheck that you won't receive any more notifications. If it is something that if you uncheck it you won't get notifications on other things you would like to be notified of, you can always check the pop-up option, that way
you won't receive emails, just a pop-up that you can easily ignore and if you click on the Bell in the top right hand corner (next to the envelope that is nest to your avatar), then you will see a list of your notifications.
